PROFILE
SHORT BIOGRAPHY
I am Dr. Abdus Satter, an Associate Professor of Philosophy at Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh. I was born in the District of Cumilla in 1984. I have passed Secondary School Certificate Examination from Ramchandrapur Ramkanta High School with First Division under Cumilla Education Board in the year 2000 and the Higher Secondary Certificate Examination from Adhyapak Abdul Mazid College with First Division (merit position 15) under Cumilla Education Board in the year 2002. I have studied Philosophy for my BA (Hons.) and MA Degree at Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh. I obtained first position in both BA (Hons.) and MA in 2008 and 2009 respectively. I received my Ph.D. in Philosophy from Jahangirnagar University in 2022 under the supervision of the Professor Dr. Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan. In 2010, I started my career as a Lecturer in Logic at Momenshahi Cantonment Public School and College, Mymensingh. Then, I was appointed to the Department of Philosophy at Jahangirnagar University on 17th December 2011 as a Lecturer and I was promoted to Assistant Professor on 25th March 2015. I have been successfully completed the “11th Foundation Training for University Teachers” under Graduate Training Institute, Bangladesh Agrricultural University, Mymensingh. Besides classroom teachings, I have a true passion for working with students for their welfare. I have served as a House Tutor and Warden for nine years in Students' Residential Hall. I have also served as a Students' Advisor in the Department of Philosophy. I received 'Modassel Uddin Ahmed Gold Medal' (2015) for my outstanding academic feat. I am also a member of 'Bangladesh Philosophical Society'. Personally, I have been married for 12 glorious years and have two fantastic children who are 10 and 2.5 years old. I love to watch my kids' sports! I also enjoy reading, praying, traveling, relaxing at the beach and spending time with family.
RESEARCH INTEREST
Environmental Philosophy: Ecology and Religion (especially Islam and Ecology), Chinese Philosophy, Comparative Religion, Ecotheology etc.

I attended and awarded a certificate for successfully completing a thirty three-days training course on "11th Foundation Training for University Teachers" conducted by the Graduate Training Institute, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh with support from HEQEP, University Grand Commission of Bangladesh during October 26 to November 27, 2013.
